Project Success links the school to the community’s continuum of care. The adolescents targeted for Project Success are in the middle of the adolescent risk continuum. For the most, an alternative school is their last chance for a non-institutionalized education.
The Project Success Prevention/Education Series consists of the following four initial topics:
- Being an Adolescent: Students learn about the normal changes that occur during adolescence.
- Alcohol, Tobacco, and other Drugs: Students develop an understanding of the causes and effects of drug abuse.
- Family Problems and Pressures: Students develop an awareness of how alcohol and other drug problems affect the family.
- Skills for Coping: Students develop skills for coping with pressure and problems.
Group Prevention/Education Courses focusing on topics including Anger Management, Conflict Resolution, and Underage Drinking.
Individual Preventive Counseling providing care and education for individual high risk students referred to Project Success Prevention Specialists by parents and/or school staff
